SUMMER IS COMING……….
Well, we know that winter hasn’t really started yet – but summer IS coming to us at Eccles when our game switches from the traditional “winter” league to the new “summer” league. Our game kicks off on the first weekend of March 2012 – and we’re almost ready!!
We anticipate growth in all areas of our game – especially participation! When this growth comes, we need to deal with it with increased numbers of volunteers.
Are YOU up for the challenge?
We are looking to recruit volunteers in all areas of our club activities – especially youth and junior coaches, assistants and administrators. We need volunteers on match days – either Saturdays (for open age games) or Sundays (for youth and junior games).
No matter how small the contribution you think you might be able to make – it will still be important to us.
Contact us TODAY - while you feel in a volunteering mood - and let us know what YOU can do for our game!
Send your details to info@ecclesrugbyleague.co.uk. We look forward to hearing from you.

ECCLES HOST A MINI FESTIVAL FOR U-8s & U-10s
Over a hundred players representing Under 8s and Under 10s teams from Eccles, Cadishead, Langworthy and Folly Lane took part in a festival at Eccles on Sunday 24th July.
Perfect weather, bouncy castle, other games - plus a BBQ made it a great day!
NEW YOUTH TEAMS
After the successful launch of our Under 10s, we have now registered an Under 8s team. Players from 6 years old to players who are under 8 up till 31st August 2011 are eligible to register for that age group - and training for both these groups is on Thursday evenings from 6pm until 7pm. We ask that parents stay with their children at the club for this one hour session.
We also have an established Cubs group - children between the ages of 3 and 5 years - who also 'train' on a Thursday evening between 6pm and 7pm. There is, of course, no 'training' as such for this young age group - but a fun time where co-ordination, balance and group participation is paramount. Again, parents must stay with their children at the club for that one hour period.
Next September we will be running a team at Under 12s, and are looking for a COACH for that age group, as well as volunteers who would help generally to manage and administrate for this age group.
We are also pleased to announce that, following the work carried out by Tom Wild at Salford City Academy on the Salford Service Area, we hope to be running an Under-12s team (currently Year 7), although this team will play at Under 13s from next September. Initially this group will train on a WEDNESDAY (7pm), but it is expected that this will be changed to a Tuesday evening in the near future.
Because of the growth in our youth area, we are very keen to appoint volunteers who would be able to help out in a variety of capacities. COACHES are always welcome, but so too are ADMINISTRATORS. We are particularly looking to recruit a Youth Co-Ordinator who would be responsble for monitoring a database for our youth team players and ensuring that new players are registered with the respective leagues. Assistance and training will be given to any volunteers.
It is appropriate to mention that all volunteers who are actively involved in our youth section must be CRB checked by the Rugby Football League in order to maintain and meet the requirements of our Clubmark status. The Club will arrange for the CRB checks to be carried out.

The NCL Management Committee proposed to the member clubs that we switch to summer rugby for a season to commence in March 2012. It is a move that may well see our Reserve Grade feature within a regionalised Conference League.

It would have been a good day to play Hunslet Old Boys at home!!
TUESDAY, 2nd FEBRUARY 2010
Eccles conceded the National Cup game against Hunslet Old Boys following the decision by BARLA to enforce a rule in their Constitution that fixtures are reversed after being postponed twice.
We felt that the recent bout of the severist weather we have experienced for some years should have allowed the BARLA Board to use the "discretion" it refers to in the Ruling, and not penalise any clubs for the postponement of a fixture.
Under the circumstances, and purely as a matter of principle, the Eccles club refused to travel to Hunslet.

RUGBY LEAGUE CHALLENGE CUP - R1 23rd January 2010
28th December 2009
Eccles enter the 1st round of the RLCC on 23rd January, but do not know who they are paired against until after 2nd January.
Eccles play the winners of the preliminary draw - Yorkshire Cup Winners v. Leigh East. The Yorkshire Cup winners (with the game played on 27th December) were SHARLSTON ROVERS, so Leigh East travel to Sharlston on 2nd January.
