WELCOME TO SALFORD CITY ROOSTERS !
The new name for the Club is SALFORD CITY ROOSTERS. Salford City - because, quite simply, that's where we're from. It was very important that we kept the identity of the ROOSTERS name because all our youth and junior teams have always been Junior Roosters, and we felt it was important that they didn't have to change their identity. It hasn't yet been decided whether we will change colours or what logo will be introduced, but any changes will follow in due course.
Latest News......................... 1st October 2014
EXCITING TIMES AHEAD !
ECCLES RUGBY LEAGUE have recently held discussions with IRLAM HORNETS with a view to them joining us with effect from October. Discussions have gone well, and will see the open-age section of the club entering a team in the NWC Winter League (mid-October to February) as well as the one team in the National Conference League and one team in the North West Men's League (March to October 2015).
We feel that we are entering a very exciting time down at Eccles, and this move will secure our stature within the City of Salford for, hopefully, many years to come.
A new name for the Club is like to be announced very soon!

ROOSTERS EARN THE POINTS AGAINST A SPIRITED MYTON TEAM
Saturday 15th March 2014
A great 38-28 victory for the Roosters see Myton Warriors (Hull) still chasing their first win of the season. A top performance from the Roosters, with Man of the Match Ricky Openshaw outstanding. For match report, follow this link
Meanwhile, Roosters 'A' suffered an unexpected 42-10 defeat at the hands of Leyland Warriors. This defeat sees us (as Cup holders) leave the North West Men's League Shield competition in the Preliminary Round. On a positive note, coach Paul Verdon, had the headache of selecting 17 players from a 24 man squad.
ROOSTERS START THE SEASON WELL
The Roosters have been impressive in their first three fixtures of this campaign - with a healthy victory in a friendly game on 22nd February against Leigh East, followed by a great victory in their first league game against last season's premier side Ince Rose Bridge. Their trip to Milford Marlins (Leeds) on Saturday saw a victory cruelly taken from them in the 78th minute, when the Marlins converted a try that saw them snatch the 26-24 result - despite the fact that Eccles had been in front for the entire game up till that point.
Hat tricks for Tom Pratt (against Leigh East), Eze Harper (against Ince Rose Bridge) and Australian Jayden Lund (against Milford Marlins).

SUMMER IS COMING……….
Well, we know that winter hasn’t really started yet – but summer IS coming to us at Eccles when our game switches from the traditional “winter” league to the new “summer” league. Our game kicks off on the first weekend of March 2012 – and we’re almost ready!!
We anticipate growth in all areas of our game – especially participation! When this growth comes, we need to deal with it with increased numbers of volunteers.
Are YOU up for the challenge?
We are looking to recruit volunteers in all areas of our club activities – especially youth and junior coaches, assistants and administrators. We need volunteers on match days – either Saturdays (for open age games) or Sundays (for youth and junior games).
No matter how small the contribution you think you might be able to make – it will still be important to us.
Contact us TODAY - while you feel in a volunteering mood - and let us know what YOU can do for our game!
Send your details to email@example.com. We look forward to hearing from you.

JUNIOR ROOSTERS ENJOY HALF-TIME DISPLAY AT THE WILLOWS
Friday 19th August 2011
Under 8s players William, Logan and Mikey contribute to the half time display of our Under 8s v Langworthy. Eccles' Under 10s played Folly Lane. Photo to follow.
THE ROOSTERS START THE NEW SEASON WITH A WIN
The short season - leading up to the full Summer season which starts in March 2012 - kicked off on SATURDAY 13th AUGUST when Eccles entertained Castleford Panthers at Schofield Road.
Eccles played Panthers three times last season: twice in the league and again in the RL Challenge Cup, and on each occasion Eccles were worthy winners. This first game of the season was no different.
NEW YOUTH TEAMS
After the successful launch of our Under 10s, we have now registered an Under 8s team. Players from 6 years old to players who are under 8 up till 31st August 2011 are eligible to register for that age group - and training for both these groups is on Thursday evenings from 6pm until 7pm. We ask that parents stay with their children at the club for this one hour session.
We also have an established Cubs group - children between the ages of 3 and 5 years - who also 'train' on a Thursday evening between 6pm and 7pm. There is, of course, no 'training' as such for this young age group - but a fun time where co-ordination, balance and group participation is paramount. Again, parents must stay with their children at the club for that one hour period.
Next September we will be running a team at Under 12s, and are looking for a COACH for that age group, as well as volunteers who would help generally to manage and administrate for this age group.
We are also pleased to announce that, following the work carried out by Tom Wild at Salford City Academy on the Salford Service Area, we hope to be running an Under-12s team (currently Year 7), although this team will play at Under 13s from next September. Initially this group will train on a WEDNESDAY (7pm), but it is expected that this will be changed to a Tuesday evening in the near future.
Because of the growth in our youth area, we are very keen to appoint volunteers who would be able to help out in a variety of capacities. COACHES are always welcome, but so too are ADMINISTRATORS. We are particularly looking to recruit a Youth Co-Ordinator who would be responsble for monitoring a database for our youth team players and ensuring that new players are registered with the respective leagues. Assistance and training will be given to any volunteers.
It is appropriate to mention that all volunteers who are actively involved in our youth section must be CRB checked by the Rugby Football League in order to maintain and meet the requirements of our Clubmark status. The Club will arrange for the CRB checks to be carried out.
JUNIOR ROOSTERS UNDER 10s - FIRST GAME
Sunday 1st May 2011 - Eccles v. Folly Lane
The Junior Roosters Under 10s team played their first game at Eccles this Sunday, 1st May, against locals Folly Lane. Kicking off in style, with a new kit sponsored by SALTAX, Eccles were defeated by a good Folly Lane team who had a little more experience than we did.
A great morning for the kids, with plenty of support!
NCL SWITCH TO SUMMER.
The NCL Management Committee proposed to the member clubs that we switch to summer rugby for a season to commence in March 2012. It is a move that may well see our Reserve Grade feature within a regionalised Conference League.
Clubs voted by a majority vote to accept the offer from the RFL to switch to Summer. A short season (late August to October/November) will be implemented this year, with a full switch to a summer league in March 2012.
